The bathrooms and kitchens each have hot water from a gas geyser and gas appliances, including a fridge and stove.
Lamps and candles complete the natural ambience of a starlit evening spent on the outside patio and braai area. These overlook the orchards in complete and comfortable privacy from the outside world. Although the cottages provide the same facilities to guests, each is unique in its charm and appeal.
Grootnek Guest Farm has a host of activities to offer guests during their stay. Activities range from blissful relaxation to bushveld adventure. Take in the beautiful surroundings and untainted sunsets or explore the natural mountain fynbos on foot or horseback.
Grootnek Guest Farm lies along the popular R62 which serves as an alternative ‘scenic’ route to the N2 Highway. This links the small farming towns to the bigger centre’s from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. The route is an endless source of wonder with many activities on offer, with breathtaking scenery and rich history.
The Langkloof, or the ‘Fruit Route’, boasts a feast of attractions to the avid traveler. The towns of Joubertina and Krakeel are examples of the historic villages, still largely unaffected by modern day stresses. The people of this area prefer to spend their days honing their craft, from farmers to local artists.
The Langkloof, meaning ‘long ravine’, houses a variety of natural wonders, spectacular scenery and great hospitality. Hiking, horse riding, fishing, caving and exploring will perfectly compliment the simplicity of farm life experienced at Grootnek Guest Farm.
Nature-loving guests can also look forward to visiting the nearby Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area. This world heritage site stretches over 200km and is home to many unspoiled elements of nature. Travelers have the opportunity to participate in many eco-recreational activities within this conservation area while experiencing nature face to face.
