Wedding Planning in South Africa: Events

BRIDAL FAIRS

When planning your wedding a bridal fair is the best place for you to see what is on offer in South Africa.

Unfortunately this past year with Covid these have been few and far between.  There have, however, been a few on line.  This trend may continue for a while where you can buy your ticket on line and then on the prescribed date log on and see and speak to the various suppliers.  In South Africa there are normally two or three big ones per year and then several smaller ones.  These are sometimes held at a particular wedding venue, where you can assess the venue and various suppliers at the same time.  Bridal Fairs are where you can actually see, touch, taste, meet the suppliers and chat to them.

Wedding dresses are on display as well as the latest trends in men wear. The suppliers will also have albums and books on hand to show more designs.

Photographers and videographers will have examples of their work, albums to look through and videos continually playing.  It is an opportunity to speak to them and connect with them.  You need to feel comfortable with your photographer.

Cake decorators will have wedding cakes on  display as well as  photo albums of cakes they have made previously.  They will also have samples of different  cake flavours for you to taste.

Florists have displays of bouquets as well as table decorations. They will give you advice on what flowers are available in different seasons.

Wedding planners will have examples of their work on display. They will explain what the role of a wedding planner is and show examples of their décor, table settings etc.  Again it is an opportunity to meet and speak. To feel a connection with your wedding planner is important. A wedding planner will listen to what you want, give advice and make suggestions.

There is always music. It may be a DJ, a string quartet, a singer or a single violin. There are  marriage officers who offer various types of ceremonies and will handle all the paper work required for a marriage.  Lawyers are on hand to give advice on antenuptial contracts.

Beautiful wedding stationery in limitless designs is on display.  Bridal jewellery,  make-up artists, and hairdressers are available.

A variety of wedding transportation can also be on display from horse and carriage to vintage cars or luxury cars. There are options and advice on honeymoon destinations.

The main advantage of a bridal fair is that you can see, touch and taste, speak to suppliers, get a feel for who is right for you. Most wedding suppliers have various price options. So you can get an idea of what a wedding is going to cost. Then you can make an appointment to discuss your choices at a later date.

Wedding & Function have had the privilege of show casing with Espousal, SA Bridal Fairs, The Wedding Expo and Bridal Expo just to mention a few.
