The Royal wedding
Everyone is waiting in anticipation for the most publicised occasion of the year, the Royal wedding, which is due to take place on the 19th of May, at the St Georges Chapel, Windsor Castle. If you’re planning your own wedding this year, you might be hoping to gain a bit of inspiration from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s glamorous union.
From the dress to the guests, here is everything you need to know about the Royal wedding
The invitations were made by Barnard Westwood and follow the old family tradition, of American ink on English card. Each invitation has been printed in gold and black and gilded around the edges to create an elegant effect.
Kensington Palace confirmed on their official twitter page, that the couple had decided to waive any traditional wedding gifts. Preferring donations for their chosen charities. The charities being – Children’s HIV Association, Crises (A homelessness charity), The Myna Mahila Foundation, Scotty’s Little Soldiers (A charity for children), Street Games (A sports foundation) and the Wilderness Foundation UK.
The cake
The royal cake will be a lemon and Elderflower buttercream bake that will embody the jubilant flavours of spring. The appointed baker is Claire Ptak, the owner of Violet Bakery in New York. The cake will be decorated with wild flowers, white garden roses, peonies, foxgloves, and branches of beech and birch. The flowers will all be sourced from the Royal Gardens.
The reception
Around 600 guests will be present at the wedding. Meghan Markle is planning her own speech for the wedding reception, which is a break from tradition. Meghan and Harry have invited a total of 200 close friends and family to an intimate reception. Including the guests Elton John and Ed Sheeran.
The dress
The wedding dress will be designed by one of a small selection of British and American designers- Erdem, Antonio Berardi, Marchesa, Ralph & Russo or Misha Nonoo. The photographer chosen to capture the special day is the acclaimed, New York based photographer, Alexi Lubomirski.
The Duke of Cambridge will be the best man, while Princess Charlotte and Prince George will also take part in the ceremony, in the roles of the flower girl and page boy.
