The Netflix series of Bridgerton has inspired many brides to opt for vintage style weddings.
- Wedding Dress Trends for 2022
Wedding dresses with high waists and puffy sleeves and plenty of bows are trending for 2022. Also dresses with lots of volume – full, tiered tulle skirts and corset bodices.
- Accessories
A mix of old and new, with elbow length gloves, birdcage veils that cover part of the face and tiaras. Pearls are popular in engagement rings, accessories and shoe embellishments.
- Colours
Pantone’s colour for 2022 is a periwinkle blue with violet and red undertones. Soft monochromatic colours for décor and dresses are trending, and for the more dramatic, jewel colours are good.
- Ceremonies and Receptions
Micro weddings are still popular, leaning towards smaller more intimate weddings. Although having been isolated for so long, couples are also going for larger celebrations.
- Weekday Weddings
Weekday weddings have become a popular trend. Since Covid many weddings had to be postponed and as a result now venues are fully booked for weekends.
- Eco-Friendly Weddings
Many venues and wedding suppliers are very aware of the environment and are offering more eco-friendly options in décor, transportation, fashion and stationery.
- Catering
Food stations and food trucks are a popular trend, with food being cooked on the spot while you wait. It lends itself to a relaxed and casual atmosphere.
- Destination Weddings
Forest weddings in a magical woodland setting, or at a game lodge are still very much on trend. As are destination weddings where the whole venue is booked for the weekend.
- Wedding Cakes
Smaller statement wedding cakes with only one or two tiers, or small cakes individually plated are a popular trend. But for a larger wedding an extravagant multi-layered wedding cake is the way to go.
- However, it’s your wedding. You no longer have to stick to tradition and can be as creative and individual as you like.
