Now that things are opening up after Covid, weddings are again being celebrated in grand style.
Top International designers are showcasing their styles at bridal fashion shows, and traditional and non-traditional styles remain the order of the day.
- Ball Gowns
Trends for 2022 show that ball gowns and traditional trends will be here to stay.
2. Colour
Instead of white, bridal gowns in soft shades of colour, especially blue, are popular.
3. Flower Motifs
The modern ball gown is embellished with floral motifs and flower appliques, or dramatic feather detail.
4. Skirts
Skirts are voluminous in sheer fabrics, or tiered tulle.
5. Hemlines
Ruffled hemlines are popular for 2022. Midi and mini hemlines are still popular, and high-low hemlines are the new trend, as are thigh high splits.
6. Cut Outs
Tasteful cut-outs are on trend, and can turn traditional gowns into modern masterpieces.
7. Necklines
Halter necklines add a classic touch to any dress, and also provide extra coverage for a more modest look. From square necklines, deep V’s, asymmetrical lines and mock neck (which covers most of the neck) – all are on trend.
8. Sleeves
A major trend is regency era puff sleeves and high waists. These are inspired by the TV series, Bridgeton. Bell sleeves, inspired by the Medieval Era, are also a popular trend for 2022.
9. Corsets
The ever-popular corset bodice allows brides to accentuate their figures and show off the traditional silhouette of a wedding gown.
10. Bridal Separates
Non-traditional looks continue, and bridal separates such as pants suits are a popular choice. Bridal capes, overskirts and removeable sleeves are appearing more and more.
No matter what your bridal style, there is a look especially for you.
