WEDDING TRENDS FOR 2021

WEDDING  TRENDS  FOR  2021

Covid  has changed many things this past year, not least of all weddings, and it seems it  will continue well into 2021.  Brides and people in the wedding industry have had to adapt and be very innovative to bring new  and fresh ideas to make a wedding day special.  Top trends for 2021 are micro weddings.  These are more intimate gatherings with a much smaller number of guests, mostly close family and special friends.  There are many advantages to this.  For example, the wedding budget will stretch further and more money can be spent on special food and décor than on a big wedding.  A new wedding trend, if your heart is set on a  lavish reception, is to get married now and then have a big celebration  later when things hopefully return to normal.

DÉCOR

One of the wedding trends for 2021 is the inclusion of lots of greenery.  Instead of flowers, ferns, herbs, succulents of different shades and textures can be used for tables, arches or down the aisle.

DRESS

According to Vogue sleeves are in again.  They can be short or long, but puffy is the popular choice.  Princess Beatrice borrowed her grandmother’s dress and had puff sleeves added.  Another way of beating the budget is to find treasures at markets, for bridesmaids gifts or jewellery from bygone days.

FOOD

Ideas for food and drink are becoming more personalised and are great for topics of conversation.  A trendy way to go is to have artisan food and drink  “vendors”.   The possibilities are endless.  For example and ice cream van, a pizza or hamburger stand,  a sushi bar, wraps, seafood.  It all adds to the fun and atmosphere.

ECO  FRIENDLY  WEDDINGS

Eco friendly weddings are also on trend for 2021.   A wedding that is mindful of the impact on the environment.  Such as a venue with solar heating, which uses local suppliers and the local community. Pot plants instead of exotic flowers.  Candles also create a romantic atmosphere, but check with your venue if this would be allowed.

These are a few ideas, but remember it is your day and needs to be what you dream of, even if it is on a smaller scale.

GUESTS

Because of travel restrictions there is an option of live streaming and videography where guests from far away can also be part of your wedding.  Drones are also a new trend and perfect for giving an overall picture.
