Antbear Lodge is an idyllic wedding venue in the Drakensberg region of KwaZulu Natal. Their remote location coupled with the beautiful surrounds make them a wonderful destination wedding venue option.
Situated in the central Drakenberg, near Giant’s castle in the uKhahlamba World Heritage site, Antbear Eco Lodge is a four and a half hour drive from Johannesburg and two hours from Durban.
A perfect place for a breakaway, Antbear Eco Lodge is owner run, with sustainability and responsible tourism being an important part of the ethos of the Lodge.
The Lodge includes a restaurant where all meals are cooked from scratch. They have their own organic vegetable garden, chickens for fresh eggs, cows for milk, bake their own bread and make their own cheese. The Lodge also has a small bar and a lounge.
Every piece of artistic furniture is made by themselves as well as the huge mosaics and whimsical stained glass windows. Guests are welcome to come and see their workshop, which makes the lodge a destination in its own right.
Weddings and Functions
The Lodge is perfectly suited to host an elegant country style wedding, with a venue and beautiful thatched chapel which can accommodate a hundred guests. Wedding packages are available and the Lodge will also tailor your wedding to suit your needs and wants.
The Lodge is also a great venue for conferences, team building, year-end functions or any celebration.

Accommodation
There are fifteen units with mountain or garden views. Pets are welcome and some accommodation has fenced in gardens.
Each comfortable cottage is individually designed and includes a king size bed, lounge area, fire place, hair dryer, tea/coffee facilities, a mini fridge and a veranda. The bathrooms have a spa bath and a shower and the family rooms have a loft.
What makes the Lodge particularly special is accommodation in a cave. This luxury cave is built under a rock with glass doors opening onto a deck with uninterrupted views of the mountain. The cave is cosy and comfortable with a spa bath, and an adjoining lounge with a fire place.
The cave is beautifully private and is perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. Private candlelight dining is offered on the deck under the stars.
Activities
These include canopy tours, walking trails to see Bushman rock art, overnight in a Drakensberg cave, hot air balloon flights, horse trails, mountain biking, wood working lessons, and children can interact with the farm animals.
