About Wedding & Function and Wedding Planning in South Africa

Hi there! My name is Alison Kirk. I am the person behind Wedding & Function. Assisting brides and grooms with planning their special day, and helping wedding suppliers get noticed, is my passion.

With our free tools Wedding and Function will guide you through the whole planning process for your big day.  We have it all in one spot. That includes bridal wear, accessories, reserving your marriage officer, venue, hiring a photographer, videographer, caterer, DJ/band or florist.  And don’t forget your beauty and fitness routine to look fabulous on your day!

Wedding and Function started in 2004, with its first wedding directory magazine in the Eastern Cape. It wasn’t long before each province had its own magazine. With more and more brides and grooms moving online – we are now a nationwide website covering suppliers all over South Africa.  

We offer free tools to help you plan your wedding, as well as information on trends, venues and the latest wedding dresses. I first joined Wedding and Function as the KwaZulu-Natal franchisee in 2007 and then became the Franchisor in 2018.  Wedding & Function KwaZulu-Natal has been the top performing franchise for the past 10 years running.

My vision and mission is to help wedding businesses and companies achieve brand awareness, credibility and leads in order to increase their sales. I believe that by empowering businesses in South Africa and marketing them to their niche, our country will thrive!

I am also a wife and a mother of 2 beautiful boys. Being a business owner means adapting to change, helping to solve people’s problems and enjoying the journey.
